Three generations of mezcal distilling tradition.

One Family

Three Generations

In Oaxaca, Mexico, mezcal is more than a way of life. It is life.
And for many, mezcal becomes a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Los Ancestros isn’t just a family-made mezcal, it’s a part of our family. It’s always been a part of our lives, going back to our great-grandfather.

It’s a mezcal that’s made by us, in our distillery, from plants grown on our land.

In a world with industrial mezcals made in large factories, we think you’ll appreciate a hand-crafted mezcal made in small batches by the people who’s family are on the bottle.

True-Oaxacan Craft

Los Ancestros is the definition of a craft Oaxacan mezcal

Genuine traditions of flavor and method are what the craft of making mezcal is about. Taking the time to care for our soil, grow our plants, and make our liquid means having the patience to create quality. That’s what our grandfathers did, and it’s what we’re doing today. We haven’t changed a thing.

Los Ancestros mezcal is made with agave espadín in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. It’s extremely smooth, small-batch, with the perfect smokiness and easy to drink, be it neat or in your favorite spirited concoction.

First Time in America

After 100 years, Los Ancestros is now available in the United States

It’s not every day that an ancestral mezcal becomes available. Our story is growing and changing, and fans who’d tasted our mezcal have asked for it in the United States. We’re happy to be able to bring our mezcal to the U.S. We hope you’ll enjoy it.

History. Family. Tradition.

The history of our palenque dates all the way back to the late 1800s when our great-grandfather began a growing his own agave plants and distilling mezcal for his family and friends. Soon, he began selling his mezcal door-to-door in Santiago Matatlán. Then, Oaxaca city and much of southern Oaxaca.

Today, three generations later, Los Ancestros is still family crafted.
